Cecily's work is an extension of her current reflections of life and universal dynamics. She says, “What we live is the reality we create. What I paint is a reality in that moment of my perception and so I try to put thought provoking messages out there in the form of painted image. I think art has the impact of a good question in visual form. Art has a way of interrupting our usual pattern of thought, which by its very nature provokes curiosity, questioning and even perhaps a transformation of thinking in some small way...or perhaps a reminder of what we have forgotten that we know....and actually want to apply more in our lives."
Producing approximately 10 to 12 paintings a year, she has had many solo and group exhibitions. Each painting she produces is composed of many layers, each new layer leaving a little of the one before visible as a metaphor of the layers of our lives that we create by building on previous experience and learning. The raw energy of the lines and the mixed textures are reflective of her personality which is constantly driven to take affirmative action and which finds ultimate joy in the freedom of positive expression.
